Project Proposal: Light Box

I. Background

When I started working on my BFA project for my upcoming BFA show on April 9

I begun with the idea of using mirrors. I wanted to reflect life thru a mirror, my life. What is it that we see when we look at ourselves in a mirror beyond our reflection? Who are we and what is it that makes us who we are? All these ideas got me thinking and exploring self identity and personal life. I planned using mirrors but my ideas started changing as I worked in further. At first I started with the idea of projecting a video on a mirror, later I thought of using a monitor with a video loop behind a two way mirror. Researching ideas on how to do this, I ended up exploring light boxes and art thru a light box. I found a light box fit into what I wanted to transmit and an ideal medium to use. A light box is not an ordinary box, it has a soul and without it, it does not exist, the soul is the light. In our memories there are always thing dear to us that we keep in our hearts and makes us who we are. These light boxes, with the bright light of life, will not only reflect a light bulb, but give life to those layers of life that I keep close to my heart. Thinking is always associated with a light bulb that reflects thoughts and ideas, and a box is where we keep our more precious things.
